This Blazer Print is a Need

Like I mentioned a few posts back, plaid blazers are having *a moment* this season. Now there’s another patterned blazer having its moment as well, and I couldn’t be happier about it!

This checkered with darts (or mini-houndstooth) pattern has the perfect sartorial heritage vibe and has been a symbol for the chic bourgeois for decades. Just by wearing a different color underneath, the mini-houndstooth will look fresh every time you wear it. Try it paired with bold, solid colors to really make it pop. Or with all black for a more toned-down look (like I do here with this Louis Vuitton blazer from Vestiaire Collective).

Blazers are a perfect opportunity to add a new texture to your outfit. Because they’re so structured, they’ll go well with either a looser-fit or straight leg bottom. And let’s not forget the sleeves. I love it when they’re just the right length to cover the wrist, but also tuck up and out of the way when needed. Not to mention the black buttons and iconic yet subtle Louis Vuitton signature monogram! Both add polished details to finish off the look.

Speaking of details, these shoulders being in a different fabric and color take the blazer to whole new level. You can really see the lapel cut against them, which just makes the garment stand out even more. Blazers with those smaller but important details make all the difference.

The length of a blazer is also key. I love longer coats (as all of you know), but for blazers it’s all about what you pair them with. I chose a mid-length cut that was more balanced for my height. It keeps my legs looking long, while also mimicking the hem of my pants.

Finish off the look with leather boots to really call out those shoulder and button details.
